Robotic Shotcrete Nozzle
Shotcrete is the name given to the process of applying concrete by pumping it and applying large volumes of air (under pressure) at the end of the hose. A nozzle is attached at the hose-end, to accommodate the air injection. Even spread is obtained by orbiting the nozzle as it faces the resting place and up until recently, this process was done manually. The hose weight, combined with the back pressure from the air injection, makes the operation risky and extremely labour intensive. A minimum of two operators are required at the nozzle and these operators will generally be rotated into positions of less intensity every hour or so. We are currently working on a Ratio Remote controlled system that will attach the nozzle to the end of an excavator jib, truck crane or other prime mover. This unit will make the operation much safer, with significantly reduce labour costs.
